St. Louis is the second-largest city in Missouri and a major city in the United States. Before European settlement, the area was a regional center of Native American Mississippian culture. Then, in 1764, it was founded by the French, only to be quickly claimed by the Spanish, then by the French again, and finally, in 1803, by the United States. It was the point of embarkment for the Lewis and Clark Expedition and traders along the Mississippi River.

St. Louis is home to the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team and the St. Louis Blues hockey team. Among the city's notable sights are the Gateway Arch, the St. Louis Zoo, the Missouri Botanical Garden, the Saint Louis Art Museum, and Bellefontaine Cemetery and Arboretum.

St. Louis is referenced in at least four episodes of Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?, including:

  • The Case of the Cribbed Crater: Show-Me State and zoo
    • During the Lightning Round, which is about Missouri itself, Greg Lee asks questions about the Pony Express, George Washington Carver, and Charles Lindbergh.
  • In The Gateway Getaway, Robocrook steals the Gateway Arch.
  • Bad Day on Broadway: Goldenrod Showboat
  • Unfair Exchange: Video Game and Coin-Op Museum
    • In the Final Showdown, the loot is located at the Dental Health Theatre, the Warrant at the Dog Museum, and Wonder Rat at the Goldenrod Showboat.
