Ecuador, officially the Republic of Ecuador (Spanish: República del Ecuador; Quechua: Ikwadur Ripuwlika), is a country in northwestern South America. Ecuador's neighbors are Colombia and Peru, but it also includes the Galápagos Islands in the Pacific, about 621 miles (1000 kilometers) west of the mainland.

The capital of Ecuador is Quito.

Ecuador was referenced in a number of episodes of Where in the World is carmen Sandiego?, including:

  • The Case of the Cribbed Crater: beautiful textiles and world's largest exporter of bananas
  • The Radioscope Rip-off: Galápagos Islands and tortoises
    • During the Lightning Round, Greg Lee asks questions about Quito, the Incas, and petroleum.
  • The Ta-ta Kenyatta Cantata: coastal rainforest, Equator, and Awa people
    • In the Final Showdown, the loot is located at the Oriente region, the Warrant at the Immigration Office, and Wonder Rat at the Galápagos Islands.
  • Big Bad Lug Bags Big Egg: Cotopaxi volcano
  • Come Back With That Kibbutz, Toots: Andes, bananas, and Galápagos Islands (with tortoises, marine iguanas, and blue-footed boobies)
  • In Stardust Buster, the Gumshoes look for clues in three trash cans. These clues reveal that Ecuador's currency is the sucre, it rules the Galápagos Islands, and its capital is Quito.
