In Episode 7, Baron Wasteland complains that Jimmy Carter and Leonid Brezhnev have signed the Salt 2 treaty to limit their respective countries' nuclear arsenal. His clues lead the Time Pilots to the year 1979.

In Episode 32, the Time Pilots meet a rapper who is doing a rap about then-President Jimmy Carter. His clues lead them to the year 1979.

In Season 2, Episode 3, Sir Vile tells Carmen about work being resumed on the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in New York. Once the Time Pilots listen in on their conversation, they figure out that they need to stop Sir Vile in 1979.
